Contracted directly from the end user, we were tasked to deliver a modernised storage and sortation centre for a mostly online-based watch part distributor. They were relocating to a larger site and required the site to be completely refurbished and modernised before they were to move into the new facility.
As their relocation to the larger facility was imminent, they required a fast turnaround (from initial design and manufacture of the complementing mezzanine through to complete installation and fit-out of the site). Aesthetics were also a key component of the build. Of course, the site had to be robust enough to handle the heavy storage loads, but they wanted to revamp the look and feel of the site to make it their own.
On top of storage areas, a canteen space, operative viewing platform and reception hatch (for the transportation of goods) were also needed within the new site.
- 673m² mezzanine structure
- 7.2kN/m² live load
- 18m² operative viewing platform
- 45m² staff canteen area (completed with glass finished walls)
- 578m fire rating
- Ancillaries: 4 access staircases, 80m bespoke mesh infilled handrail, installed further plumbing / hands-free sink and 2370m textured floor tile both on the ground and mezzanine floor.
The Solution and Result
To ensure we were able to meet the quick turnaround demands, it was crucial that throughout all stages of the project we efficiently communicated and designed a suitable solution with little-to-no adjustments required. Once ready to install, we ensured a team was set to rapidly initiate and complete the fit-out process.
Our bespoke mesh infilled edge protection was installed to maximise the safety on the mezzanine structure. As with this installed, it limits the possibility of objects dropping to the ground floor. Also on the mezzanine, we were able to create a suitable canteen space for their staff that adds to the aesthetic of the premises with its partly frosted glass walls. A small goods in area was also created on the ground floor so that the transportation of goods (both in and out of the premises) could be straightforward and time-efficient.
Meanwhile, throughout the entire facility, our textured floor tile solution was installed to improve upon the ground slab’s dated appearance. In addition, if at a later date any area of the floor was to be damaged, it could simply be lifted and replaced with very little affect on business operations.
Upon completion, Hi-Level were successfully able to meet the mezzanine and fit-out demands of the client and were also capable of meeting the tight timeline requirements. With this, our partner will be able to operate as normal from their targeted start date in the new and improved facility.
