Leeroy is a Key Account Manager in the Hi-Level Mezzanines sales team. He is a carpenter by trade and in a 25-year career worked on many projects where his problem-solving skills proved invaluable. One fascinating job involved installing a spiral cellar – sunken wine storage – for a member of British pop royalty! He was headhunted by Hi-Level Mezzanines as a surveyor and project manager before moving to his new role in 2024.
Bespoke ethos
“My experience in following projects through from beginning to end as a surveyor and project manager is really helpful knowledge when it comes to sales,” Leeroy says. “I can foresee potential challenges and provide a very practical approach when discussing projects with new customers.”
His problem-solving ability is ideal for Hi-Level’s bespoke ethos where each mezzanine is designed to match a client’s business needs and if a standard solution is not the best fit, Leeroy can suggest a value-added alternative.
A typical week
Leeroy’s schedule can include site visits to meet customers or to do surveys, which he carries out himself. He might be checking quotes to make sure clients get value for every penny they spend, or reviewing drawings prepared by Hi-Level’s team of qualified structural engineers.
You might meet him out at a networking event, such as a supplier conference in the self-storage industry, or unmissable sector dates such as the IMHX gathering in Birmingham.
A very satisfying job
“One of the best parts of my job is meeting clients because the conversations are always fascinating,” he says. “I might be hearing what their building will be used for once the mezzanine floors are installed, learning what their business does and listening to their plans for growth thanks to the extra capacity the mezzanines will give them. I love talking about their potential and the difference we can make.”
The variety of projects he is involved with is one of the great attractions of Hi-Level for Leeroy. These can range from an expanding business in the games sector to visiting the new site of a premier motor manufacturer or Formula One team or going behind the scenes with our more local clients such as the Hogs Back Brewery.
“It’s very satisfying at the end of a project to see happy customers with new potential ahead of them – as well, of course, as being a relief that yet again we have delivered a brilliant solution!” he says.
Leeroy also enjoys reconnecting with distributors he has previously worked with, re-establishing relationships that lead to regular new orders.
Looking ahead
“We have some exciting developments coming up,” he says. “One is the next phase of our award-winning IQD system which will bring even more benefits for customers and support distributors in increasing their sales.”
On a personal note, Leeroy’s ambition is to take on more structural engineering tasks as he moves up in the company, and he is already taking advantage of technical training from Hi-Level’s industry-leading experts. “I work with a great bunch of people,” he says.
