We’re back from attending the International Material Handling Exhibition (IMHX) at the NEC
in Birmingham – and we can still feel the buzz!
Hi-Level Mezzanines had a team of five at the show billed as the UK’s premier event for
those at the heart of supply chain and logistic operations.
And we were delighted to win an exhibitor award for the excitement around our stand – an
exceptional achievement.
IMHX describes itself as the leading intralogistics event for professionals involved in the
handling, movement or transportation of goods throughout the supply chain. It offers three
days of expert-led seminars, product demos, networking events and business-building
opportunities.
A real buzz
We were busy all three days and found participants really professional. Our stand was in
prime position backing onto the UK Warehousing Association (UKWA) pavilion, so very
visible in the midst of all that was going on.
This was the first IMHX since the pandemic and there was a real buzz. The event had been
moved up into one big hall rather than two small ones, and wide aisles gave it a spacious
feeling.
There was huge interest in our robot-ready tiles and the event generated new opportunities,
leads and networking for us. We met resellers and distributors, users such as Tesco and
system integrators.
Useful intelligence came from contacts in northern England who told us warehouse space is
becoming more available there – making this the perfect time to move in and install a
mezzanine.
Expert advice
Our Sales Director Chris Baxter was a member of the panel for a discussion on robots for
small business. “Automation for SMEs: affordability, costs and availability” was a debate and
Q&A to help small firms take their first steps into automating their warehouse operations.
Chris stressed how mezzanines are both flexible and quick to install, mirroring the
advantages of automation for growing companies: robots can be deployed in line with
demand and easily expanded, applied to a broad range of logistics processes (such as
storage, picking and sortation) and be speedy to deploy. So can mezzanines!
Chris also took part in a new three-minute Power Pitch competition, talking about our robot-
ready tiles to an audience of 40. Impressing both the crowd in the room and the judges, he
came third – which we like to think of as a bronze medal. In the words of IMHX: “The
competition was tight!”
Further proof of our stature in the industry was that Chris was invited to the UKWA dinner at
the Sky by the Water restaurant. Another fantastic opportunity to share and swap expertise.
